Neighbours star receives terminal cancer diagnosis


Neighbors star Ian Smith has revealed he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. 

”A few months ago I found out I had cancer,” he told 10 News First.

“That I have a very aggressive incurable cancer and they expect me, they expect me to die.”

The 86-year-old played beloved Harold Bishop in the long-running soap.

First appeared as an old partner of Neighbors character Madge Mitchell, played by Ann Charleston, in 1987.

He then left the show in 1991, before returning five years later to become one of the stalwarts of Ramsay Street.

Smith was on his last day of shooting on set Prisoner when he was offered the role of Harold Neighborsaccording to IMDB.

He was nominated for a Silver and Gold Logie for his work on Neighbors in 2009

He has also appeared on Under the belly, Bellbird, Prisoner and Matlock Police.
