Customers tear up as mystery couple pays for dozens of families’ Christmas toys at Toyworld in Melbourne
An anonymous secret Santa brought a little holiday cheer to dozens Melbourne families paying off their idle gifts like a toy store.
The plan was set in motion almost six months ago, with Mystery Santa clearing balances for families at Toyworld Pakenham.

Months of generosity were revealed on Wednesday as tearful customers thanked the family.
“My kids are actually going to have a great Christmas, thanks to all these people,” customer and mother of two Melissa Roberson told 7NEWS through tears.
“It will help us greatly.”
Toyworld revealed on Wednesday that almost 100 accounts had been settled.
“I don’t know much about the family, all I know is that they are husband and wife and have four young children,” said Toyworld’s Sandra Evans.
“It’s been going on for a while so I hide this from anyone who comes asking ‘can I put this on layby’ thinking ‘you’ll get paid soon’.”
Last week, a mysterious Good Samaritan carried out a similar act by paying the balance due on every unstocked item at Toyworld in Helensvale, on the Gold Coast.
Brooklyn local Manu received a call that a generous gentleman walked into the store and told the manager that he would foot the bill for any slacker — including the gifts she paid for her children.
“We were very tearful, we all were,” Toyworld manager Aleka Riggs told 7NEWS.
“Something you don’t see a lot is nice, it’s beyond polite – really amazing someone would do that.”
Four weeks after Christmas and in the cost of living crisis, 40 families have been saved thousands of dollars.
“Just thank you again, I can only imagine that there are a lot of families that may be struggling to pay those rebates,” Riggs said.
The random act of kindness has been seen before in some stores across the country, with the tradition dating back to 2020 when a mystery woman paid for $16,000 worth of gifts at a Burleigh Waters store.
A year later in 2021. an an elderly Victorian couple performed the incredible act of kindness for 82 strangers after a difficult year in their regional community.
“These two beautiful people just wanted to make a difference in some people’s lives and it was about time they could give back,” store manager Debra said at the time.
